Scholars' Forum in CIT hosts Dr. Justin Anderson

Justin Anderson

Dr. Justin Anderson, Associate Professor of ICSST.

Inside the Core this week, we are very pleased to host our final (for the semester) event in our Scholars' Forum in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition with Dr. Justin Anderson, Associate Professor of Moral Theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology on Wed., Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. (via TEAMS). He will be presenting on his recent book, Virtue and Grace in the Theology of Thomas Aquinas (Cambridge University Press, July 2020). Like all the speakers in this Scholars' Forum series, Dr. Anderson is connected with the University Core and has not only taught for us for years, but also conducted faculty development for our teachers.  He is a well-liked and enthusiastic professor.

Justin Anderson's new book

Justin Anderson's new book.

Dr. Anderson earned his Ph.D. (2011) from the Institute of Philosophy at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Louvain). Dr. Anderson's research interests focus on the historical sources and conditions under which various ethical positions become possible, especially in the medieval ages and today. Of course, St. Thomas Aquinas is a key figure in any discussion of ethics and theology in the middle ages. He is also one of our authors in Core II: Christianity and Culture in Dialogue.  His book focuses on how for Aquinas, the concept of virtue is inextricably linked with concepts of both grace and sin. We look forward to an interesting talk on these subjects!

The Scholars' Forum in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition series is sponsored by the University Core, the Program of Catholic Studies, the Center for Catholic Studies, the Department of Religion, and Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology. We look forward to more events like this in the spring semester.  See below for how to access this talk and upcoming speakers and topics.
